Shut Up Tim – Barleywine Release

Since we have our pilot system, we often let our brewers have at it. We save some of these beers for our monthly “Brewer Series” release. And sometimes we wait for a Friday… Today we tap a Barleywine brewed by Tim Ott, called Shut Up Tim.
“Drawing on my classical brewing education and literal minutes of professional brewing experience, I set out to create a shining example of the world’s favorite beer style: Barleywine. I began in the true Karben4 tradition by serenading the grain overnight with the Bee Gees’ smash hit “Tragedy” using only a Lasonic TRC-931 and my best Barry Gibb falsetto. I then not only named, but developed a deep emotional bond with every hop pellet (Shout out to my boy Humphrey). I then dumped Humphrey and his friends into a kettle of boiling wort for a couple of hours and once cooled, pitched yeast that I harvested by hand from only the choicest online retailers. Then, after a month long 5 trillion cell orgy in the fermenter, I transferred it to a conditioning vessel to allow the beer to get past its awkward adolescent phase and become the full grown beauty it is today. This beer will lead you to total enlightenment. Barleywine is love. Barleywine is life.” (Shut Up, Tim!)
