November K4 Project: Take a Vet Fishing

The K4 project is our way of giving back to the community. Each month, we pick a nonprofit to donate a portion of our sales to and with Veterans Day right around the corner, we wanted to pick an organization that honors our heroes.

Take a Vet Fishing is a nonprofit dedicated to honoring, comforting, and assisting soldiers dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other mental health issues. The core of their mission is “A Day of Giving Back,” which focuses on giving each veteran they work with an opportunity to experience a therapeutic day reeling in fish alongside a volunteer. Fishing combines low-impact exercise with mental relaxation and social connection, which makes it the perfect activity for those trying to alleviate their mental health struggles. The organization doesn’t stop there, however.

They also provide each veteran they assist with information about various PTS partners and connect them with support they can use going forward. As valuable as a day on the water can be, the work doesn’t stop there. There are plenty of other great resources veterans can turn to for ongoing support, and Take a Vet Fishing prides themselves on partnering with these organizations so that nobody falls through the cracks. For more information about these partner organizations click here.

Since the organization’s inception, more than 3,500 veterans have embarked on fishing trips, and more than 1,500 fishing rods have been donated to veterans who can continue to use them throughout their healing process.

Your support allows this nonprofit to continue their mission of organizing events across the country, so every veteran in need has the opportunity to participate. Throughout the month of November, we will be collecting donations as well as a portion of each pint sale of Hawk Jones will be donated.
